Grass Masters is a lawn care and landscaping company working across Johnson County and neighboring Morgan County, Indiana. We mow, we landscape, we put in lighting, we shape hedges and bushes, we clear brush, and we handle snow through the winter. If it is outdoor work, ask. We take on just about anything except trimming large trees.

Locally owned, and yes, teen owned

This is a young business run by someone who grew up here. That is worth saying out loud rather than hiding, because it changes what you actually get.

You are not calling a dispatcher who sends whoever is free. The person who quotes your property is the person who shows up to it, and who has to drive past it afterwards. In a county this size that is a real accountability: a lawn done badly on Smith Valley Road gets seen by everyone on Smith Valley Road.

It also means the work is insured. We carry insurance, so the work on your property is covered. Running equipment across somebody else's property without cover would not be fair to you, and being new is not a reason to skip it.

What “legacies” actually means

A lawn is a long project. Nothing you do to it shows up the same week, and most of what makes a lawn good is the accumulation of small decisions made correctly over years. Cutting height. Blade sharpness. Not mowing saturated ground. Changing direction so the wheels never wear the same line.

None of that is dramatic and none of it photographs well on the day. It is the reason a lawn still looks right in its eighth August rather than thinning out and getting replaced. That is the whole idea behind the tagline: we are maintaining something that is meant to outlast the visit.

Keep it clean

The other half of it is simpler. A job is not finished when the mowing is done. It is finished when the edges are cut, the trim is done around every post and tree, and the drive, the walk, and the patio have been blown off.

That last step takes a few minutes and it is the one most often skipped, because nobody is standing there watching. It is also the first thing anyone notices when they pull in. So we do it, every time, on every property.

We will tell you when you do not need something

Lawn care has a lot of room for selling people things they do not need. A cool-season lawn in central Indiana turning tan in late July is usually doing exactly what it evolved to do, and it will come back when the heat breaks. Reseeding deep shade under a mature maple fails every year, no matter how good the seed is.

We would rather say so and keep the account than sell a treatment that was never going to work. If something genuinely needs doing, we will explain why in terms you can check.
